I am replacing my quarters on my 74. I have them off and am cutting the drop offs and outer wheel houses which need replacement too. Of course I found that the trunk floor is bad especially under the seam sealer and it too likely needs replacement.

Is there any sort of bracing I need to worry about with this much metal removal? My trunk gutters are still in place bridging to the tail panel.

The only thing you might consider is a support bar of some sort so you don't accidentally bend you trunk lips out of shape "down", the rest should present little problem as long as the frame rails and tail pan all stay intact.
