I have a Atlas 8000 4 post lift. My ceiling is 11 ft., with the lift fully raised the top of the runways is 72" with the Camaro on top I still have 7" to the top of ceiling, I can stand under and work on the the car easily. My wife parks her car underneath with plenty of head room.

Seems like you already have the advice from others but I thought I would add this. My older garage had 12" 3" ceilings. My lift has a top section with two different height holes. With 12'3" ceiling I was able to use the highest setting and it was great. I could get under and car and my truck with no issues (I am 5' 9 too). When I moved my ceiling is barely 12' and I had to drop to the lower holes. Now I have to crouch a tad on the truck but still ok. To me, 12' would be the minimum.

Thanks. I am pricing out 13' ceilings. Building the garage is a lot more than I expected. I don't want a steel building so that seems to add a lot of cost.

Sure does, I was looking at Morton Buildings when I decided to stick build mine since I was building a new house and wanted it to somewhat match. I am very happy that I did now, but the cost was significantly more than a pole barn or metal building.

This is what I ended up with. The garage is 36X32. It has trusses so and are not rated for weight so there is no usable attic. I saved cost there and I painted all the inside myself. It has heat and it's own 200A service.

That is very similar to what I am looking at. I am trying to get to 30x40 which is basically the same size. I am going to be building in Great Barrington MA. I will PM you to get a few more details and find out who did the work for you if you don't mind. Thanks!

Be happy to share with you, but my builder was not good. It was a battle the whole way.

If you have options, get the most ceiling height possible, even if you have to lay a few courses of CMU and then build on that to get your ceiling height. I didn't have the option so I went with Bendpak's low ceiling two post lift. I can put my son's 4WD Blazer on it and run it up to the ceiling, then drive my camaro under it. As far as working under it...I can stand comfortably under my Camaro with the Camaro on the lift and I'm 5'-11.

I have 13 foot ceilings and a danmar 2post I’m 6’5” so I have to crouch just a little but that’s just everyday life. I looked for the lift that would rise the most and with 4”square lifting arms the car gets up there pretty good. Lift fits like a dream z/28 to top with hood up also 77 Chevy c-20 no problem
