Interesting Vortec build. I'd say 427 HP isn't too shabby for a 355ci engine with Vortecs and Crane hyd FT cam.

 

ya the thing had a decent torque curve. I wonder if they experience valve float as I would have thought that cam would have peaked a little later?
Note the cam they used was a saturday night special and not a powermax.

What would be better to go with for more H\P with a vortec set-up nitrious or turbo?... Which would give you more H\P do you think?

 

They both would make great power. It basically boils down to which way you want to go.

Nope, never used anything like that. I ran the Scoggin-Dickey Vortecs that supported up to .525 lift.

 

Same here. I always drill a small hole in the thermostat to let any trapped air escape.

 

are you guys drilling a hole on the part that opens when it reaches temperature?

 

No, in flange that surrounds the spring.
