My 73 was in an accident its its previous life and needs some repair. Instead of replacing the entire firewall, I was going to add the DSE firewall plate, replace the blower motor area with new metal, and add a new outer cowl. As you can see, it is beat up pretty bad. Already have the upper cowl panel sitting there ready to go. This will be a nice street/strip car when we are done. Anybody have any good firewall pics they can share? Is the passenger side supposed to be pretty flat? This is what I am dealing with.

    Thanks in advance! Mike 20201009_175336.jpg 20201009_175333.jpg 20201009_175320.jpg 20201009_175311.jpg

Take a look in the project progress thread at secondgenaddict 73 rs lt z/28. He has a good pic of the firewall of his car. His thread is on the third page of project progress.

The firewall metal is very thin and flimsy. It looks to me like someone welded in the plates for the box and blower motor and warped the crap out of it. Then tried to "shrink" the metal with a hammer and did more damage. Looks like most of that damage I see is from the plating job and trying to correct metal stretched out of shape, not collision.

The PO is a long time friend of mine...he owned the car for 20+ years and I know this car. The firewall and top of the cowl were beat up(1" bondo on top of the old cowl) from a previous accident. His bolt on heater delete plate did not fit that great because of the damage so he tried to weld it in. It needs to all be removed and done right so i may have to find a local donor car somewhere. Thanks for the input.
