3rd gen IROC/GTA steering boxes are an upgrade for most 2nd gens. Also, if you do the B-body spindle upgrade you will want to run 1LE rotors from a 3rd gen, but I think most just buy those new.

Some folks like the basketweave wheels from GTA's (optional on other Firebirds), but I think you have to run 4 fronts or something like that. Those are 16" wheels so tire choices are getting limited.

Otherwise not much, although I would like to hear more about the whole roller/door detent thing.

yeah, not a lot of 3rd gen 1LE cars getting parted out lol. If you find one sell the whole brake/spindle assembly. That should have value. Also any 1LE related parts - heat boxes, etc., for resale

Some steering boxes (look for factory 16" wheel cars) and 700R4s (really, cores) are also a possibility.

On the 700-R4, think you'll want a 87 or later. Date is stamped on the case. I don't believe Chevy put a 200-4R in the Camaro.

Haha, I found a "honeymoon suite" tape under the seat of my '79 (you might have to be Canadian to know who they are). There couldn't
be a more appropriate tape to find in that car. My 10 year old loves listening to it when we go for drives lol.

The biggest asset of the 3rd gen:
When you're 17, the passenger side seat lays down flat. Can't tell you how much more comfortable it is than the back seat

3rd gens are FANTASTIC money maker parts cars but pretty much worthless if you're planning on using anything on a 2nd gen

IROC steering boxes are nice. The serpentine belt systems are nice if your not doing a restoration. I have both on mine. I used IROC wheels on my 78 back in the 90's, had to put 4 rears on car and clearance front control arms to get matched set of wheels, or put fronts on back and rears on front.
