Sometimes there are certain deals that are too good to be true. I would keep on looking and or did like I did and collect the parts to build an engine . It doesn't hit the pocket book so hard at once .And do it as you can afford it ..

I would have kept the car, you can sleep in that and still get to work, and I have bought plenty of stuff , for a great price, that engine , however, looks like a rip.

I bought a car from my friend like that. He needed money bad.
I told him I would buy it as long as I could store it at his barn.
I drove the car once. Took him to dinner.
It sat for about a year, at his place, and one day while we were having breakfast together, he slipped me an envelope with 1000$ more than I paid for his car. I said you don't have to do that, but he wouldn't take no for an answer. Needless to say I sold him his car back.

You guys might think I'm strange, but I fall asleep at night sometimes while I'm reading through ads for car parts.

I have done the same, several times. That's how I got my Buick and Futura. I gave the Buick owner a year to buy it back for what I paid and what it cost me to repair it. Never did.
