If you have a 3 gauge aftermarket set up , What is your preference for gauge position from left to right . If you had oil pressure , water temp and transmission temp ???

Right now my old SW gauges are from left to right

    Water temp

    Oil pressure

    Transmission temp

I like to position them in order of importance, most important closest my viewing angle.
Oil pressure, Water Temp then Trans Temp.

I always have had oil pressure closest to my view. I also have a mini pro-light on my steering column with a 15 lb pressure switch.

Alphabetical order is the only way that makes any sense.

I organized my gauges by category...

To the left of the speedo and tach, I have "levels"... fuel level and volts (voltage level). To the right of the speedo and tech i have temperatures... water and oil temperature.

In my three gauge cluster I have pressures... from left to right... manifold pressure (in the form of a vacuum gauge), oil pressure, and fuel pressure.

My line of thinking follows right along with 70Znut & ULTM8Z.

Temps on the left, pressures on the right. And taking consideration the "race" cars that clock the gauges based on preferences, I like these gauges because it gives me the info without "looking" at them, I'm cold/low between 9 & 10 O'clock, good between 11 & 1, and concerned at 3 O'clock LOL.

The race cars I tune on do not even have a Tach now !!!, Oil pressure & Temp, Water Temp and pressure, 4 gauges, nothing else !!

    I would stick with that.
Overheating is more common and will jack a head gasket.
Oil pressure usually is looked at at fire up then, not so much.
Trans would only be looked at by me if something did not "feel' right with it's operation.
If you are drag racing, you look at all of them so order does not matter so much.
