Looking for good exercises to do when i work out. Doing the same thing gets old fast so i do make some up. My favorite right now would be climbing and descending the 13 stairs from my basement to upstairs and seeing how fast i can do 1up-down, 2, 10 etc.
    What is yours?

Doing the same things does get old fast. I have 18 steps to get into and out of my house, and a 4 month Lab puppy. My wife and I are each up and down them 6-8 times a day, just for the dog. I used to run, but cigarettes would fly out of my pocket and ice would come out of my drink. lol. I have a physical job and walk a lot all day, so I'm cashed when I get home. If I want to elevate my heart rate for an extended period of time, I just think of the insurance companies I deal with on a daily basis. Do you have a physical job? Swimming is supposed to be good for you, but I look at wales that swim all day long, and they're fat.

Work. I keep busy doing physical jobs that help me keep in shape. I never could do repetitive movements and call that exercise. It never made sense to me to use up energy and not accomplish anything.

I have gone to the gym for 5 years now after heart stents. In that time at the beginning and for 3 years I did a ton of cardio but as I kept losing weight I discovered I was using up my muscles because if you do not have enough fuel in your body it has to burn something once the fat on your body is gone. People said "You looked like a stick man". So I asked some of the trainers what and how I could put some weight on and not by eating junk food. A couple of very nice guys said to start working out with free weights and the machines. In the past year and a half I have gained over 12 lbs. and I now feel better than when I was in my 30's, I am 63. When I do cardio I mostly do HIT training and with that you get the same workout in 15 min that would normally do in an hour.
