I polished my wheels this weekend for the first time and noticed that the slots weren't polished when they were made. They have a dull finish. I tried polishing it but it still didn't work. Can it be smoothed out with something like Never Dull or fine grit sandpaper then polished? Here's a picture of the car with the wheels.

Try blue magic polish
My brother had a ws6 with really dull shells and I told him to buy it because he kept saying you want to buy new wheels because they were really dull tried it and it polish the wheel up like a mirror I think it might help what you do is you polish it until the film turns black and then you clean up and it looks really shiny
It might be worth a try

I appreciate the info guys. The openings weren't polished when they were cast. It sucks that I have to do this; but, I'm OCD when it comes to my car.

Maybe a small flapper wheel on a die grinder to start with. They make them in 1 inch diameter 1/4 inch shank. I use Mothers aluminum polish and Mothers ball on the wheels on my GMC.
