Who repairs 70 Z28 original Camaro grilles, or who has one for sale... Dw
There’s an NOS one on FB. It’s gray but I’m tracking all NOS were and require paint. I do have a reproduction on mine and it’s actually a decent piece.
Factory 70 Z28 grilles were made from black plastic.
Yes, but I was told the chevy replacement parts were not black.
Mark - I have an unrestored 70Z I purchased from the original owner in 2014...he swears the grill was never changed. However, where the fins are "dinged" you can clearly see gray plastic under the black. Does anyone have a known original grille that has imperfections that can verify? I do agree with Robby as I have never seen an NOS grille molded black...all gray...so maybe the OO of my car is mistaken? Just looking for solid evidence either way.
GM over the counter grilles are grey. Assembly line grilles are black all throughout.
I had a large chip out of my orig which was all black and should have repaired it
in 1981 but threw it out and bought a grille from GM parts and sprayed it with enamel.
I wasn’t aware about it being black throughout back in ‘81 or I would have kept it.
Thanks Mark. It could be the OO is mistaken...but based on the rest of the car, it sure has the right patina to be original.
my original 71 Z28 grill had some pieces cracked and chips missing , it was black plastic , the NOS grill I bought was the proper part number but it was grey and I had to paint it satin black
