window trim

need to refininsh the blacked window trim on 79z,what did everybody else do? my body shop guy said to sand w 180 grit,repaint with quality rattle can paint.just trying to make the car more presentable till I can do a quality paint job.any help is appreciated.

what about taking off the trim?my body shop guy said you had to be careful taking off, you could break/crack glass and or break off tabs.

I had mine powder coated over 20 years ago... It still looks nice!

If you can't find a shop to do it for a reasonable price...SEM trim is about your best option for paint.
I used it on my grill, rocker panels and aluminum N90 wheels a few years ago and it has held up very well.
Prep is critical with paint. (Self etching primer beneath it.)

They are a pain to get off if you don't have the right tool. Don't worry about breaking the tabs, you probably will. You can buy them pretty cheap.
