Wonder why single plane intakes run, start and idle better than dual plane intakes on a big block?

Sometimes, the runner length and plenum volume of a particular intake just compliments the total engine package and heads/cam, no rhyme or reason, it just flat out works.

And often, the only way to know for sure is to take the time and install the intakes and test it out....

Your Vega is cool as heck 450bench....and thanks for starting this thread....been interesting reading the feedback.

That is awesome.

I can tell you with my little Vega, the Edelbrock Streetmaster is NOTICEABLY faster, more responsive, has zero flat spots and easier to start than when I had the air gap on it. The difference is very surprising.
My engine is a 9 to 1 468, open chamber oval port aluminum heads, smallest thumper hydraulic cam, 870 Holley vacuum secondary, 2 1/8 inch headers, m20 4 speed and a 2.73 gear.
I only made the intake swap so I could put a stock hood on the car. I’ve always loved the Streetmaster on mild big blocks but as I said the difference in performance is crazy.
(Gotta paint the hood soon)
It's difficult to quantify how cool that is. Like maybe an 11 on a 10 scale.

Awesome car! I did a budget 350 with a Weiand Xcelerator since I already had the intake, Summit mild(ish) hydraulic cam and the most basic Holley 600 vacuum secondary ever made. Low rise single planes do rip. I had that motor spitting flames out of the headers and it made great torque. Ended up in a truck as a daily driver when I sold it and he loved it with the manual 4x4 trans.
