Land barges aren't really necessary, and suck on gas no matter whats in it.
know a guy with an '85 4x4 burb and an LQ4 with FAST EZ-EFI.... and he's thinking its getting around 15mpg combined now.
don't do it Wayne.
I'd disagree with that.
It depends on the users needs.
If he's doing it for fun, no, they're probably not.
Then again, a modified Camaro isn't "necessary" either, but we do it
Our SAR team uses larger "barges" to pull our boats, and the training teams use Burb's and other "barges" to haul students' crews, etc.
They serve a valid purpose.
Hell, the wife and I, our 2 adult (chronologically speaking) kids, 1 5 year old granddaughter, and all our crap, wen't to NC for week the day after Christmas to see snow.
We rented a standard Tahoe.
I wish I'd gotten the XL, but either way, I wouldn't have wanted to make that trip in anything else.
This is my 90 K5. I did a LM7 5.3/ 4l60E swap cause I had the engine and wanted more power. I picked up a whopping 1 mpg,But picked up 100 hp.
Then I lost 5 mpg cause I put a 4" lift and 35s on it cause I had the new found power to turn them.
In the end, Its what makes you happy!
Care to share any more info on you're swap; how long, snags, obvious improvments, fuel system? Any more pictures?
