I am in need of a parking brake switch for a 70-71 Camaro that grounds to make circuit with the warning light on the dash.
Looked and called NPD, Camaro Central, OER, Rick's, Classic Headquarters, Classic Industries, AC Delco, M&H, InLine Tube, SS396, Rock auto, eBay, Amazon. Coming up crickets for this two year only part. Anyone have one for sale?
Original GM part no was 3983909. I will take anything that fits.

Saw someone posted this excellent pic in the past.

Long gone. I saw that too. Add your personal details and click "Buy It" and it says it is not available. :(

Didn't realize that switch is 70/71 only. Guess I should start looking for a spare. I find it hard to believe that switch did not find it's way into similar years Nova's, Chevelle's and full size cars.

The parking brake assembly body is different requiring a different switch.

The mounting plate is not the same 70-79 where the anchor pin is and the pin on the switch changed 72 and then again in 76 from with I see.
    70-71 round single pin
    72-75 flat single pin
    76-79 two flat pins
Can't believe with all the 2nd gens nobody repops any of these! 67-69 yes, 81-up yes. Everything in between nada nunca.

If I understand you right, I don’t think you’re correct...the switch from a later year won’t physically fit. The body is different...because the brake assembly is different.

parking brake assembly is same from 70 to 81 with the exception of the pin configuration on the switch and the anchor pin on the bracket. Brackets are a little different but mount with the same bolt. Left is 70-71, Right is 73-76. They changed sometime in 72.
