Here are the pictures of the differences in the shafts. The one on the right is for the tilt column. Hope this helps you. IMG_1326.JPG IMG_1327.JPG IMG_1328.JPG

Do you have a link to the Flaming River part? I tried to find it - no luck. Thanks!

Can you buy just the shaft for the tilt column? I have a 73 tilt column I plan on adding to my car. Will the shaft off of my non-tilt column work? I was under the impression they are different, so am trying to find the correct shaft. Thanks!

Just watch ebay. I bought the one in the picture for $20.00 last month. You need to look very careful at the pictures or ask the seller for better pictures. Make sure it is for the splined shafts and not the double D.

I have a 71 RS that I put a tilt column in many years ago. The car has been off the road since '79 but I'm working on it now and will have it registered end of the winter. I think the tilt column came from a mid 70's machine (might have been a Firebird - I installed it 30+ years ago - never aligned or driven) I'm pretty sure use I used the original shaft that I had. I did not have a tilt. The car is a manual and it seems the tilt wheel is from an Auto - that seems OK I guess.

    My question is:
I saw your post and viewed the picts about the intermediate shaft. Mine looks like the wrong one. Looks like I need to swap it so it's not 180 off?

    Thanks!

When you refer to the spline instead of the "double D" are you talking about the connection at the column? Going to go to the car and inspect tonight - It has no steering wheel in it but I have one. I imagine if I put it on - I could tell if i;m 180 off... maybe.. Any tips?

    thanks
