As I been out of the Camaro world a bit, I am repairing and updating a 81 z28 but it has a 4" fiberglass cowl hood, and I have a new set of high tension springs but they wont hold it up, is there a fix for this to keep the hood.

I would take some measurements of the stock and lightweight springs then get on mcmaster-carr and try to find something in between.

What brand of fiberglass hood? I have a Glastek " 6" cowl hood and I use a set of their springs that work .So I would talk to company whose spring you have.

I had the same issue on my Nova. I ran a secondary spring inside the first spring. I got them at ACE I think.

Maybe the Glastek hood spring would work on yours Since my 6" cowl hood is heavier image2.jpg

On my first Camaro that had a 4" fibreglass hood, sometimes the hood would close, all I did was drill a small hole in one of the hood hinges when it was up, and used an old trimmed door pin, no need for a prop rod, or strong springs that liked to makes hairlines stress cracks.

Then if ever at a race track, or car show, and someone wants to close the hood, use a pencil or plastic pen case, instead of the steel pin, at least they will not crack the hood not knowing the pin is in the hinge.

Then you give them a "crack" for touching your car LOL.
