I'm thinking about installing a scissor car lift in the floor.

Very close. It will be a scissor table for heavy work and quick work on wheels and brakes.

A small leap forward. Painted the walls, connected water and started with electricity. Last weekend me and my wife primed and rolled an epoxy coating on the floor. Almost there...
