Yup, Klean Strip Aircraft stripper (Not recommended for use on aircraft)...it's a joke. Sandpaper was the only way that worked but sanding sucks!
I did a thing on the weekend. Finally managed to get it down to my work and borrow the paint booth. This was my first ever paint job. Other than the small bits and pieces I’ve completed. Everything went perfect except a couple minor runs, some slight orange peel in the clear and one major f-up with the paint gun. I used the 3m PPS disposable tip system. Sprayed a coat of clear and then went a refilled the cup. Came back and started spraying and the tip blew off the gun. Of course the cup went with hit and landed on the trunk lid. Pretty sure it will buff out. I was quite happy with this paint gun system as it is so easy to clean up and having the multiple tips was awesome. Now I’m thinking I wouldn’t recommend it. Cost of cups, tips and lids can get out of hand when you are starting and stopping as often as I am/was. I’ll finish the job with this gun but if I were to do another one I’d pick up a regular spray gun and just commit to more gun wash. Lol
Guess I could add a couple pictures here. Lol second last picture you can see where the paint cup landed on the truck. Too right corner. I’ll get to sanding that out. Worst cast sand and re-clear the lid.
The throw away cups are okay, the problem with the 3m gun and disposable tips is the way they lock in. Just 2 tabs on the side and if there is any wear on either the tip or the gun they don’t seem to lock in as well as they should. The tip that blew out was brand new and only inserted once.
No clear on the decal, in fact I'm trying to figure out the best way to clean up some scratches on the decal.
