Bought this 71 RS last October. Here’s a few pics of the progress so far. I’ve spent about $150 just on wire brushes to take the chassis and subframe down to bare metal to put Eastwood on the components.

Spent time doing electrolysis on the suspension (front and rear) as well as all of the nuts and bolts, and those will also get the Eastwood treatment. I just sprayed the undercarriage, main frame and firewall with Eastwood encapsulate and 2K ceramic epoxy topcoat on the underside and firewall. The subframe and all suspension parts are next for painting. Then I get to start building this car back up.

Subframe and all suspension parts are primed and 2K topcoat. Now I have to paint all the hardware (screws, nuts, clamps, etc). The matte finish is the primer, the shiny pics are the 2K topcoat.

Were you tempted to wash over those factory welds with a tig welder while you had it cleaned down to the bare subframe? Man it's a wonder these cars made it 50+ years without coming apart like a zipper at those welds.
