I inherited a 75 Camaro that had not been run since 1987. Refreshed the engine, added a TCI trans, new front end header and a Cowl Hood. This was my wife's best friends car given to her new in 1975. They called the car Niffer. The friend passed away and left the car to her husband who could do nothing with it. Niffer got passed around a few times before they called me to see what I can do. Shipped it from CA to FL and got to work. Niffer got a new 2" cowl hood. I have the hood hinges from the old hood on the fenders adjusted so that the hood will sit as low as possible. When I close the hood, the rears stick up about 1/2 inch. I can push both sides down to make it flush. Is it time for new springs or do I lengthen the adjustment slots in the fender mount side of the hood? Thanks for looking.

If the hood is fiberglass, try some light weight springs. If metal, lube the hinges liberally.
The hood can really be a PIA to sit right.

^^ He's right. Makes no sense at all but that's how its done. If you can get the rear part of the hinge to go down and the front up , You'll have it fixed it 5 minutes. The rear part doesn't have much adjustment to it though, but every little bit helps. I'm doing a hood adjustment this afternoon.

Thanks. Will look at that as well. The hinges look good so I would just as soon not spend the money for new ones.

Hinges "look" good, but are they? They will wear in the pivot points and the arms will walk in or out sometimes...not allowing them to be situated in their fully closed position. Raise the hood, then close it slowly and watch for side to side movement in the pivot points.

I just ran into the same issue last month with my new bolt on cowl hood. Seems my bigger radiator is hitting the under hood support, so not I'll have to cut that area out and re-fiberglass it so my hood will fit flush with my bumper.

import parts are very questionable . i have had springs (new) that wouldn't even hold hood up. i reworked my hinges(tightened up joints) .
