Me, a tall white boy...Friday I was out of my element looking at a 1967 nova 118 vin-true SS car, 4spd in South central L.A., California. The car had been sitting since 1995 along with a 68 conv. impala, 67 nova wagon, 70 blazer and my favorite a 61 Impala convertible that had been 100% restored on 2004 and then for whatever reason parked in 2005. All these cars just sitting rotting, leaves all over, weeds all around them- it broke my heart to see!
The guy who had the cars kept saying you white boys are the only ones who want these '67 novas, he's right I wanted it but it was a little rough for the price since I was probably just going to turn it for a liitle extra cash, because it is truely was a complete resto project. He wanted $3800 I was at $2800.
So now I was after the 61 ragtop he says its his brothers and I gotta talk to him, so He gives me his #. I called him, the guy seemed to already have his Friday buzz on! Now these guys don't know it but I have 10 grand on me so I'm hoping to steal this 61 for 10 grand! But after talking to the brother, in his present state of mind, he told me he hinted around that he wants 50 grand for the car--ya right!
So I left them my # if they changed there minds on either car.
Its funny how some dont have a pot to piss in, but think every thing they have is worth what Barrett Jackson is selling them for! Oh well I'll stick to my motto when it comes to obtaining classic cars- "Leave no stone unturned" even if it is in South Central!
