70 Camaro without heat core holes????

I have a base non A/C camaro and there are no holes on the engine side of the heater box. So where did the holes go? Do I have to cut the holes myself. I'll try to post a pic later.

The engine-side heater core cover did not have holes...the holes were in the firewall adjacent to the cover toward the center of the car.
