70 Console

I want to put a console in my 70. It did not come with one. I recently installed a Tremec T56 Magnum. Question- Will the OER unit fit right in or am I going to have problems. Also, Parts needed: Brackets, Bezel, Ash Tray Liner, Tunnel & ???

I believe you just need the console kit, mounting brackets, and shifter trim for a manual. that is assuming the shifter mount on the T56 is in the stock location. the T56 kit from APT includes the shifter trim.

All T56 Transmissions swap kits are different. I know the T56 kit from the American PowerTrain has a shifter that mount in the same location as the original 4 speed and does not require any modification to the console. I would check with the company you got the T56 from to verify that it will work with the factory console.

A T56 Magnum will require floor modification. My choice was was to do it this way. It all fits under the factory console.

Thanks for the replies. My T56 came from DD Performance. I would post a pic but I can't figure out how. I didn't have to cut the tunnel up as much as 2ndGenCrazy. I have a square hole where the top plate of the trans sits. The shifter location looks real close but I will contact DD to make sure. Again, thanks guys. Classic Industries has the console now for $299.
