Hi.
Have a stock 1989 700 r4 with most of the goodies on it out of a pickup. I am having a problem with it "dropping" out of gear when the revs get over 5000 rpm in 2nd. Happens more and at a lower rpm downshifting. Where should i start looking to fix this? or is it a governor issue?
Also, have a B&M 3000 lockup converter with a painless vaccum lockup thing. But it doesnt lock. What gives? Have proper voltage down, checked everything but the solenoid. (Painless seems to have a pretty good reputation, no?). Could this be some kind of weird pressure problem or did i get some faulty parts?
Thanks,
Shawn

You have an Albernie Automatic in town. Good guys to talk to, would be my first choice. C&S in Lantzville is very good too for high power, but will take all your $.

ZS 10,
Thanks for the reply... I took my car to alberni automatic once. And that will be the last time. They took 3 hours to get to my car and then they refused to look at it because "it has headers". Sorry but i have no tolerance for crap like that. Hate to badmouth, but they deserve it.
Have heard the same thing as you about C&S, maybe worth a checkout. To this point i have done everything to do on this car (paint, mechanical, body and frame) so i dont really want to let anybody touch the car.
Anybody else? I know theres somebody here who knows more about the 700 than i do.... Please?

I know how you feel, I did everything on my car my self too. Transmissions are just one of those things that are like a Pandora's box to me, so I don't go there. There's an Albernie Auto in Port Albernie as well, dude named Alex who's very good, a little arrogant, but nothing like Scott at C&S. However there are a several heavy, low 11 cars in Nanaimo with C&S 700s in them.

Alex built the 700 in my S10 which has 50,000 very hard Kilometers, and 100 or so passes on it.

I think I just read a little writeup by Jakeshoe on adjusting the governors, and it mentions "dropping out in second." Take a look at "recent posts", as it is in there now.
