Good Morning
Well I have replaced my module and now my coil as well. My car was from San Francisco so I can see how it might have been my coil, the thing was totally rusted out. I still cannot start my car. When I replaced my coil; I made sure that red went to red and yellow went to white and I grounded the black. Even though when I took out the old coil; the wires were in a criss cross position, meaning if I would have lined them up that way on the new module, the red would have been in the neg. spot and vice versa. Do you understand that?
I am wondering if it has anything to do with that rubber peice under the coil? The spring? It was real clean but there wasn't a washer around that spring as stated in the instructions to replace the coil.
It kinda sounds like it is out of gas?
Do you think it could be a fuse? Under the hood?
I know that it is not anything terrible. It was just running.
Thank you...write back soon!
Kathy

Your car probably has the HEI distribuitor so the module is located inside the dist cap underneath the coil and rotor. To replace the module you will need to remove the cap, the coil and the rotor first in order to get access to it. The module will be there underneath the rotor and its secured by 2 phillip head screws and has wire connectors on the left side. Make sure you mark where each wire goes so you don't get them reversed. The module itself is pretty easy to replace once you figure everything out. Hope this helps!

not sure what the original question was but as for getting "under" the distributor:

remove all the plug wires, but label each with a piece of masking tape and a write a 1,2,3... then on the cap do the same thing (using a pencil write 1,2,3)...from where you remove each wire.

if you have a chilton, you can just yank em all off then go by the diagram, but this can save some time/headaches.

Take a medium sized phillips screwdriver(x tip) and push down and turn on the braces around the cap. youll see the tops of the braces go into the cap, and underneath will be an L shapped side holding the cap to the distributor.

the rotor will be on top of the distributor and can be removed by loosening/removing the screws holding it in place.

hope this helps, if not, ask someone else
