best types of carpet material

Any preferences in the type of material used for carpet ? As in 80/20 loop v/s cutpile...Does one have better life over the other ? Does one fade worse ?

I've had both in my car. Although not "correct" for my '74, the cut pile has a better feel to it than the loop. And, yes, the loop did seem to fade pretty quick, going from black to a sickly-looking brown.....
