A 79 and 81 use different fuse blocks.

An 81 has the hazard and signal flasher in the fuse block. (Likewise with an 80.)
A 79 has the hazard in the fuse block and signal flasher on a pigtail harness above the heat-A/C control panel.

Are you using LEDs in the front side markers and/or turn signals?

The polarity changes in that circuit and you will most likely need non-polar LEDs for that circuit to work correctly.
Also... The signals and front side markers operate differently depending upon whether the headlights are on or not.
They alternate (Front an side) when the marker lights or headlights are "On". (Either Hi or Low beam)
They flash simultaneously if the headlight switch is in the "Off" position.
maybe i will have you help me diagnose when i swing by to show off the new engine in june
