I have a 74 Camaro that has a TKO tranny and a 621 bell housing with a center force clutch/pressure plate. I am swapping in an LT based 96 one piece main block. I was going to reuse the bell housing and clutch but when I install to engine there is no free play on the clutch fork at all. I am assuming that I need a different clutch/pressure plat but I am not sure and don't want to throw money at parts that I may not need. Has anyone run into this issue and if so what did you do to rectify it.

Yes, the flywheel is different. I'm not sure if that's the cause of your issue. I don't recall the visual difference

I have a ram flywheel which is correct for the 1 piece main seal block I am assuming the clutch pressure plates for the 1 piece seal block must be thinner than the one I have now which was in the car before when I had the 74 2 piece seal block. Either I need a new clutch kit for the newer 1 piece block or I need a different bellhousing or both. I am just not sure and don't want to throw money at parts that I may not need. I was hoping someone on here may have run into this issue before and chime in.
