My mistake, I thought an ammeter and voltage gauge were the same thing. Somehow I managed to wire up a new stereo into the car yesterday, so that gives me more confidence on other electrical stuff. Haha.

The garden hose analogy might make it easier. My father taught it to me when I was trying to wire up some electric trains back in the 1950s. Voltage is the water pressure -- ie, how far will the hose shoot? Amperage is the water quantity -- ie, how much water comes out?

That's interesting. Hopefully I can remember that. I've had so many electrical issues on every vehicle I've ever owned and always just dealt with not having working electronics because it annoys me, but now I'm getting tired of nothing electrical working. I usually forget everything I learn pretty quickly if I'm not always using it.

You would think someone could make ONE video for this specific car showing you exactly where to wire stuff up and why. I just don't understand how it's possible to just know. Wiring diagrams make my head spin and I just get angry looking at them.

Is it an AMP gauge or actually a VOLT gauge?
The wiring is different between the two.

How many connections are on the back of the gauge?
Does the gauge have a light in it? (Back-lit so you can read it at night.)

If it's only two wires and it's actually a VOLT gauge... Here's the instructions:
