Nitrous On Pump Gas How Do They Do It?

HI just lookin at the the last couple years editions of the pump gas drags in hot rod mag u guys run in USA
I have B/B zz454 forge pistons comp roller ,rmp airgap ,with zex perimeter nitrous plate ,have been using BP 98 unleaded pumpgas on 100 shot the ngk -8 plugs look good ,what i need to know how do those guys at the pump gas drags use large shots off NOS with plate systems on your guys 93 octane fuel ,i have used my 200hp shot on avgas to scared to go above 100 shot on 98 pump fuel
I would like to even use the 150 shot if all possible have any you guys used pump fuel on the 150 shot?
What are the secrets to using bigger shot off NOS on pump fuel? do you take out a heap more timing ? or up fuel press?
Some adivce would be good on this matter because were i live race fuel is and avgas is very hard to get hold off and super expensive
Another quick ques whats your thought on mixing pump fuel with avgas some guys are dead against this ?

how fast do you need to go? You must be making close to 600hp with a 100 shot.

1st - what is your comp and cam specs? That is one of the first things to consider? Also, it would be good to know your static vs cranking compression?

2nd - need info from #1 above to really say. But you may be able to run a 150 shot or even 200 with pump gas.

3rd - assuming the compression does not already have you on the edge of pump gas limits, the key will be the tune up. If you back your timing down around 2 per 50, or 6 for the 150 shot, I might even go 8 at 1st, then do small burst runs, aprrox 3 seconds or so, shut it off instantely and then read the plugs. If you need some advice there, let me know I can direct you. The A/F may need some tweaking as well, just small fuel pressure adjustments in your case would probably get er done.

4th - make sure you have enough fuel system to keep up with the total demand

5th - How do they do it - the PGD guys??????????????? That's a long story, there is a very long lists - from coatings to funky cam specs to reverse cooling to great attention to detail - and some break a lot of parts while learning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HI YU-LUZ ,thanks for good reply few specs on me motor ,comp hyd roller its a xr282hr 230/236@50 9.6 comp ,160 cranking compresion, not shore of lsa on cam , 1.7 comp rockers , heads are eledbrock rmp 110cc chambers ,i got new holley blue for nitrous fuel side off things seems to hold 6.5 psi no problems
I have a digi 6 so i can take 9.9 degress off timming max,i take 5 degress on 100 shot onpump gas no signs of detionation ,i take 9 degress out on the 200shot on avgas
Whats your thoughts on mixing avgas with pump gas some guys dead against this they say race gas & avgas dont mix together well with pump gas and can cause big problems

Sounds very good! No to the avgas from what I've heard! You may be okay running 200 on sraight pump gas, just be careful.
