Has anyone moved the rear end mounts and leaf springs over 1/2" to allow more clearance for 15x10 rims with slicks?

I am thinking about doing this. The leaf spring perches aren't welded on the rear end yet and I thougt about moving/sliding the leaf spring over about 1/2" on each side.

Comments or suggestions??????

Martin,

I have 15x10 rims on the back of my car. The leaf spring pads are in the stock position. I'm running 5" backspacing. You can check out pics of my car on my website. The slicks are 29x12 Goodyears.

All I had to do to make this work was massage the seat-belt pocket. I also trimmed a little off the fender lip. Other than that, it works fine with Calvert springs and Cal-tracs.

Hope this helps.

Shane

I run 15x10's with massaged wheel wells 29.5 10.5 et drag tire. stock springs and lift bars. You do have to beat the snot out of the seat belt hump. I used a BIG sledge hammer when I did mine.

Thanks Shane & Arron.

Shane how is your car coming? I bought another project and have to decide which one I want to keep.

The rear weld wheels have 5" of backspacing. When I get the car I will check and make sure everything clears.

81ZMouse,I noticed you have your shockes moved in. I would like to know if PONYEATER has his moved in also? I have asked if I could fit a 28 X 10.5 slick on a 10" rim under my car before and have never gotten a yes answer. I realy do not want to minni tub my car and I also do not like my tires sticking out of my wheel wells. Right now I have a set of 15 X 8 wheels with a 4.5" backspacing on the car with some Hoosier 28X10 slicks. Here is how it sits now.

Keep in mind I want to keep the tires "under" the car. I don't want to have to jack up the back of the car. The tires should be inside the wheel wells.
