SBC 400 question ????

Does anyone know where to find the year code etc on a SBC 400 ?Also if you know of a site where to find the code info online so I can figure out just what motor is in my car and what it came out of. I found the code on the Heads # 333882m55,Manifold #346250GM11

as your looking at the front of the engine on the left hand side where the head sits on the engine at the front there should be a pad where they stamp the imformation your looking for if its not there then the block may have been decked and the numbers milled off

There should be a date casting on the passenger side back where the motor meets the tranny, something like B 23 4 or B 23 74

The front pad isn't as reliable, too easy to restamp
