I ordered a full set of seat belts for my 77 Camaro from Seat Belt solutions. They supply a lot of the big companies. The rear retractors do not fit right. Its angled 90 degrees than the factory ones. I called the company and he said only the trans am/firebirds have rear mounted retractors like mine. He said they sell hundreds a year and never any complaints on the camaro fit. Does this sound right? He said I can send them back for a refund and credit towards rewebbing my factors ones but I'd rather just have new ones.

I had a 76 that I was looking at doing the same thing and noticed the difference

I had planned on taking a piece of 1/4 steel plate and fab something. If you look at it, all you need to do is make something that will screw down with the factory hole and then bolt your new retractor to the plate

Once it's all in place you wouldn't notice it.

You might even be able to take the base off your factory retractor and make something work with that

Another thing I was considering were these L brackets, I had gotten some with some aftermarket belts I put in my old s10 blazer..they looked like it could work.

It would put your retractor over a little bit and up than factory but it looked like it would work.

I ended up getting some basic non retractable lap belts for my 71 to match the front morris belts I bought.

You think anyone local would sell something like that? Lowes or somewhere maybe? 10 bucks for shipping plus getting them midweek puts me back a lot of work

I think they would work well in accident situations...that's what they are made for.

Not sure if I would trust anything local though like lowes, see if something like that's on eBay, it might be cheaper and quicker.
