So, Im looking at stopping my 70 Camaro build to start a 1978 Camaro T Top project that I seen at an auction that I can use as a donor. I seen a member that used a Camaro with T-Tops 75-80 don't know what year it was but he converted the front nose and rear to a 70-73. I have heard the front nose is somewhat interchangeable, hood fenders and nose and the rear is a little custom work. I really just want the T-Top option. What do you think, has anyone done this mod before? I already have the complete nose for my 70 camaro from NPD and the rear tail light panel. Yeahs and nahs are welcome.

T-Tops... Some people like them.
(Especially when they are on a car belonging to someone else.) ;)

Is this a car you intend to keep forever?

The swaps to different fronts/rears or T-Tops are not usually a good selling point if it's a car you would eventually sell.

It's quite a bit of expense and work to make it happen too.

If I had a 70 Camaro... I would leave the body alone.
(Or possibly swap an RS front on it if it didn't have that option.)

I would score the T-roof car and make a driver out of it and leave the chrome bumper car alone. Both of my carmine 79z’s were T-roof as was my 86 GN, they add to the spirit of the driving experience for sure but be ready to put new seals in and make adjustments until it’s right, eg no rattles, no leaks.

I think the t-tops on my '78 Z28 didn't leak for about the first year, and have leaked ever since(at the front corner by the window). I replaced the roof and door seals 15 years ago, but I found it hard to get the seals placed correctly. So they still leak.

But I only take the car out on relatively nice days, so it doesn't really matter much to me now.

I think the t-tops on my '95 Firebird Formula are functionally a better design, and they have never leaked while I've owned the car. But I imagine it would be a real challenge to adapt those t-tops to a 2nd gen roof.
