I have a 1970 camaro with a transmission indicator gauge in the center of the gauge pod between the tach & speedometer. It has a short cable with a bracket hanging from it. My car has a automatic transmission with a console. How do I hook up the gauge and what parts are going to be needed?

Thanks

The bracket should be held onto the steering column by a small screw. The steering column has a sleeve that rotates (same as on a column shift car). This sleeve is actuated by a shift linkage that connects to the transmission.
Basically the only difference between column and floor shift automatics was that the floor shifter was added and the lever was taken off the column.

you can remove the screw and change the position of the clip on the shifter collar BUT it is likely that, like mine, your Zbar linkage (which connects a tab on the engine side of the steering column under the master cylinder to the tranny shifter bracket) is not properly adjusted or has some play in it. Years after "completion" I must still manually rotate the collar to pull out my keys!! I could probably fix this but it gives me a chuckle on the rare occasion somebody else attempts to remove the keys!!
