Swapped over the gauges in my 72 to a later model U14 with cluster. The right turn signal has a wire coming off of it with a plug, but I don't see anywhere where it could plug into nor did my stock cluster have it. It might be something for later model cars, but I noticed it on the reference pic in the stickies so I'm not sure. The wiring diagram for my 72 doesn't have it, nor do any of the other wiring diagrams in the stickies.

here's the backside of the turn signal plug and the wire..

Right side..... That's a fiber optic cable to light up the ash tray.

(If it was on the left side... It would be to illuminate the wiper switch.)

It shouldn't be on the signal indicator lamp... Switch it wth one of the background lighting lamps/sockets.
(Unless you only want ashtray lighting to blink with the right signal. ;) )

If you're missing the clip in the ashtray for the other end of the fiber optic cable... You can leave it out.
(It's a poor excuse for a light anyway.)

lol

thanks, the joys of sifting through 40 years of "that'll work, just cut that and plug that in there" behind my dash.
