My door sits in about 7/16" but is at rocker flush. The hood lines up with fender gaps on each side and sits flush. Is this a acceptable canidate for filler? It would be the entire front half of door. It looks excessive to me. The old fender did set back more but was a repop also. Is the new fender just a bad one? I was going to reem out the bottom holes where it attaches to body but then it would sit in farther than the rocker. What is done in this situation? My skill is limited but want to move forward. Only thing I come up with is cut the fender on body line so it would would tuck in more or new door skin and get it to bow out more? I did notice the gap on door is tighter to roof on passanger side on leans me more to a new door skin rather then trying to mess with fender which is lining up decent with hood.
Pretty hard to tell from the picture whats really going on. If you can post more pics that include the entire fit of fender to door, you'll get a better guess at whats going. How many if any shims do you have at the bottom. One of the ways to flatten the curve of a fender is to stretch it flatter with shims at the bottom. Sometimes its really hard to get enough shims in. I've seen as many as 4 to 5 put in requiring a longer bolt. Way to much difference to fix with filler.
If that is a picture of rocker , at lower einder, maybe the finder needs to be all the way aganst the rocker as tight as possaible ,,maybe bend the end of fender back wards at rocker so the finder and rocker is tight together. the gap for finder and door is built in to fender, When even at bottom and flush with rocker, gap at bottom of door and and at back of door is even, same across. Line up where the top of fender and gap looks right . use shams at top bolt or no shams , to push fender out or in at middle. Maby,,,, this never works out right, Lots of luck
Thx guys. I am going to try and tuck the bottom in more but its already flush with the rocker. I was going to ream out the lower fender holes to set it in farther but then it would be in farther than the rocker. The pic is the midpoint on door. Im outta town and cant get a better pic, tonight I will post one. I could use a new door skin and my thinking was to bow it out some since it is slightly tighter to the a pilliar than the driver side. Everywhere else its pretty good and thats whats stumping me.
