Can i use the posi units from 90s up truck (not gov loc!!) and put in my 77 camaro 8.5/28?

I dont mind if I have to buy aftermarket 30 spline axles to match the 30 spline truck posi's..

or CAN I swap the spider gears - ie remvoe the posi unit from the carrier? ( i have a shop ) -

just want to know tx.

If it's a Gov Lock then don't bother. If it's an after market unit like a Eaton Posi or Truetrac then yes, but you will need special bearings. If it's a '98 or older unit installed by GM then it will use the same bearings as your 28 spline unit, but all of the GM installed units were the Gov Lock. The bearing size was changed in '99.

yes avoiding the g80 at all cost.. bearings aren't an issue.. what posits did the non g80 differentials come with, like make and year?

Set of moser 30spline axles are 145 at summit .. if I can snag a posi and get those I'll be stoked..

G80 is not a differential. G80 is the code that GM used for all limited slip differentials. In the trucks G80 is the Eaton Governor Lock. In the '60s Chevys G80 is the Eaton Posi. In the 2nd gen Camaros G80 is either the Auburn or Traction Lock. In the 3rd gen Camaro G80 is the Auburn. Calling a differential G80 can mean many things.
