Just another quick update. I called this morning and made an appointment to drop my car off to start the roll bar installation on January 14th. Since that day is coming up pretty quickly I wanted to get some front end sheet metal back on the car to enclose and cover the engine compartment just in case it would decide to rain that day. Yes, it does rain in AZ and it’ll be a three hour trailer ride….LOL. So I spent some time today putting the stock hood and upper valance back on and doing my best to line that stuff up halfway decent. I also put some interior stuff back in place so they’ll have some reference for how the bars need to be bent. I also spun the car around so it’s facing outward to make it easier to load it on the trailer. Oh, and I called Summit and ordered a winch for my trailer to also make loading a ton easier. Anyway, nothing too spectacular happened today but I couldn’t resist snapping a few shots since the car hasn’t looked this complete in quite a while….even if it’s only temporary. You can never have too many pics, right?

Looks fantastic!

You must have some real restrain/patience, because I couldnt take it back apart I would cave seeing the car like that and finish it all up. Hell I'd be so enthralled that I would be too impatient to even notice that I was driving it windowless, lightless, and two tone. Well, maybe for just for a little ride:D

Thanks man! LOL......yeah..restrain & patience......maybe; lack of funds and time....definately! No.....really. when I took on this project I told myself upfront that it would be a no regrets, do it once and do it mostly right type of thing. I don't want to look back later and say, "man I wish I'd have just taken the extra time to....." But I won't lie and say that it doesn't kill me sometimes that it's taking this long. Trust me, if the motor was complete and running it would at least be pulled out into the street every now and then for a tire wear test! I wouldn't let the lack of glass bother me one bit. That just helps the smoke clear out of the inside of the car faster!

Is The Interior Going To Be White ? If So Very Cool.. You Never See White Interiors In Our Cars...

No, only for a while until I can redo it. I'm going with black on the interior so the seats will be reupholstered and the panels will be dyed. I wouldn't mind the interior staying the original color I guess, but it just wouldn't look right with my exterior color choice.

Nice looking work you have going on there...... Remember good things come to those who wait ;) Might seem like a long time now but like you said you will be glad you took the time to do it right the first time.

Thanks! Yep....some day it'll be done and be all worth it! Until then I do a lot of bench racing and day dreaming. When I was 18 I had a 78 Type LT. It was my first F-body, my first V8 powered car, and my first "older" or "classic" car. I bought it shortly after I left home and joined the Army. It needed quite a bit of work.....more work than I had the money, time, talent, or other resources to complete. So, I focused on what most other young guys of my mindset would.......the engine.

That's a long story in and of itself, but suffice it to say that when the motor let go and destroyed itself, I was left with nothing more than an expensive pile of junk engine parts and a rotted out body I couldn't afford to fix.....so I moved on. I started messing with later model F-bodies; first an 88 GTA Trans Am that got totaled after 10 months in my possesion (not my fault) and my 99 Trans Am that I still own to this day. I've put a lot of money, work and time in the Trans Am and had a lot of fun building and abusing the LS1, but I've always had that itch to go back and do a full build on an older car, and I kinda blame that on never getting to do what I wanted with my 78. I fell in love with the early 2nd gens back in the mid-90's because my buddy Pat had a 73 Type LT at the same time I had my 78. So, here I am 15 years later combining my appreciation for LS motors with my love for early 2nd gens. I know that's kind of a long story, but may kinda explain my drive to finish this car in as much time as it takes to get it right.
