Finally got the bird to the house so I got a picture of it in the sun, as it was briefly out last week. Needs the new wheels and tires to really look cool.
I got the motor ready to install, laid out the transmission installation kit only to find out the flywheel that I was sent didn't fit the crankshaft. The hole that goes over the snout was 2.4" instead of 2.75". So American Powertrain dropped shipped me several until I got the one I needed 2 weeks ago.
Here is a picture of the full kit, including the QuickTime Bellhousing cover that will fit a Pontiac. The flywheel for the dual clutch T-56 is a nice piece of aluminum, though the motor had a brand new SFI approved, high end flywheel from SD Performance. The American Powertrain clutch is thicker and lighter.
The install kit to put there T-56 Magnum in a 2nd gen is really sweet.
It included all of these parts plus the correct bellhousing, which I already mounted on the transmission.
So that is where I am today. I am trying to finish the last pieces of another 2nd Gen I was working on at the same time. It was a 79 TA Special Edition restoration and is all but done. I'll post another thread on that if anyone wants to see it.
For a quick teaser... I have a third second gen project in progress that most of you will like. It has a front and rear Art Morrison 2nd Gen chassis under it with a 3-link and 4-link setup for the car. here is a pic, though she is on hold until I can finish the two I'm working on now.
