I'm installing a new starter and found the new starter to have 3 posts and my old one has 2. How do i hook this up? I know one goes to the batt and the other the alt but what about the other wires. Do i ned to use the other terminal?

The big post is from the battery terminal (easy one). One of the small post is from the ignition switch. The other post is for the ignition coil if your using a point type distributor, would not be needed if your running a HEI setup.

If its labeled: "S" is for start....."R" is for a bypass wire to go around the ignition ballast resister so the coil gets full 12 volt power will cranking.
