The engine is tough as nails and routinely makes 600hp on stock bottom ends.

I've read multiple different areas they have gotten 1000hp on stock internals.

One of the reasons the motor was so sought after.

6K is a lot. For a motor. you can easily buy an LSx variant and 6speed and have it installed for less than 4k

This thread caught my eye because i've got a 1980 camaro rs with a 267 V8 that I plan on tossing anyway, and there is a mid eighties turbo supra sitting in the backyard...so, realistically, would transplanting it be cheaper than buying a crate 350?

I had two Supras (one normally aspirated, one turbo). Those years are notorious for blowing a head gasket and it's a PITA to replace. I had one blow.

The 2JZ motors fixed this problem.

Might be a great engine. It's kind of like swapping a Ford or Mopar into a chevy. You may like it but nobody else will. Reasale will be zero unless it's swapped out.

Will always sound like a 6 cylinder.

Just my .02.

Oh and last weekend at Car Craft 6.0 71 Nova. Not mine did 640 RWHP on the chassis dyno. Single turbo. Using the 12 lb spring on 91 octane.

Honestly I liked everything except the exhaust tips on the video car. As for swaps. I have a buddy doing the unthinkable. He has a LQ4 and has swapped the heads for CNC'd LS3's with a GMPP hot cam. He topped that with one of the new QFT slayer 750's. The trans is a Monster Trans 700R4. The recipient? A 04' Dodge ram short box 2WD that is slammed on 20's and 22's.

We have been drilling/ adapting all the GM sending units to accept the Mopar stuff so the dash instrumentation all works. I haven't got pics yet but we have fired it on the engine stand. When all the bugs are worked out, it's time to weld. The stock 4.7 is like 8" wider than the LS and with an electric fan we have all the room in the world to use the stock drive shaft with a conversion joint. So its as simple as mounting it really.

I say swap what ever into what ever. I like crazy stuff. Turbo GN 3.8 in a Cobra kit car, seen it. 454 in a Ford EXP yup 9.90's all day.

Doubt that but if you say so. I am talking about a full front clip which includes all of the electronics, accessories, radiator, intercooler, trans and clutch stuff. Not saying all of this stuff will work but most of it should and ebay may not represent the best buyers market anyway. My point was that the price is not out of line for what you get.

I looked into the engine bay of the Supra, not a 2JZ, but A 7M-GTE. I personally think it would be better than a 267!
I'm new to Chevy's, my daily driver is a Dodge Diesel, so... I guess i'm not too worried about originality, love that body though!

7m-gte's suffer from oil starvation, check into that and how to solve it before you do the swap or youll find yourself buying several more engines and ultimately spending more than using a 350sbc.

2jz gte engines are great, they usually support 600whp on the stock internals, the 1000whp stuff on stock internals is just a myth, they do get 1000whp on the chassis dyno, but blow up the moment you take it to the track. i have a friend with a 1023whp supra, he got 42x whp on the stock engine and stock turbos ran an entire season with that setup + 50hp of nitrous the car ran 11.0 on that setup, later he went for a single turbo setup that gave 6xx whp, that setup lasted 4 months and got the car to low 10 before starting to blow by, after that he swaped to aftermarket rods and pistons, new turbo, aftermarket cams + 75hp of nitrous and got 1023whp wich made the car go 9.2 on a 6 speed, the car is a "street car" full interior, 3200lb (with driver).

besides the different/wow factor i see no advantage for you guys on making the camaro 2jz (around here the 2jz longblock + wiring and ecu cost 2,000 and the lm7 costs the same) it would be better to go with a 5.3/th400 combo since parts for the 2jz are much pricier than chevy aftermarket parts(my friends cars clutch alone costs 6,000USD).
