2k primer won't dry, it has been two weeks and it is still sticky. I think I added too much hardener to it when I mixed it. Anybody have an idea?

thanks

too much hardener i dont think will do it....was it raining out or cold out....did you have a fan on it after? The 2k primer worked very well for me and honestly was dry in about 20 minutes....laquer will make it dry even faster....drop about a shot glass in...wont hurt it, actually made it easier to spray too, mine was a little thick to begin with...the laquer bought it to a good even state where spraying seemed perfect. Temp makes a big difference too....follow the temp on the directions

It is on the back of a fiberglass hood, can't start over. I tried baking it in the sun. Hot and humid. First coat was fine a week later did the second coat. I know I mixed it wrong. I need to get it to dry.

Should have been a 4:1 mix. Any idea what you did wrong? Too little or too much hardener could be. I am afraid that this is a nasty problem. BTW I fully disagree with mixing urethane ( your primer) with lacquer. Urethane grade reducer only. Sadly I know of no fix other then removing it. It will always be softer than it should be, gummy and not sandable. Let us know what you come up with.

we had sprayed thinned +harder over a primer that would not dry(bad harder, out of daie) hrs after spraying it with luck, but not weeks. This was so we could sand most back off.

If it has not dried in two weeks you need to wipe it off with lacquer thinner and start over. If you put to much hardener in it would still dry. Its one of three things,1.)you either did not put even close to enough hardener in 2.)your hardener is bad or 3.) you thought you grabbed the can of hardener but it was actually something else. If you try shooting base coat over 2k that is not hard your base coat will lift the 2k.

Only fix is going to be wiping it completely off.
I had a similar problem, sprayed my 2k primer out in the sun. Couple hours later, still wet.

I had accidentally grabbed my enamel hardner. Out came the laquer thinner and rags...

I agree with the posts above...wipe off. If you try to go over it either bad things will happen right away, or you will trap solvents trying to gas between the top surface, and bad things will happen down the road. Good luck, I know it sucks and you were hoping for a easy fix, but I think you are outta luck on this one.
