stratman315 has the right idea!

A pair of 305HO, -601 heads, the #1094 headgasket to get the CR up there above 9 to 1, say a Crane 266/266 Energizer, a Performer 2101 or newer one or a Weiand 8004 dual plane intake and a good old 1850 600cfm Holley along with a set of small headers AND you are good to go!!

PS., and don't sell the -601 heads short b/c my pair cc'ed at 160+ cc's!! It was his Performer cam that ran out of breath, not his heads, imho

It's good to hear so much good info about this engine. I probably won't cam it, simply because i have other projects that demand money but the heads can be an option. I may be picking up a 400 which would be pretty cool. I saw a Willy's out at the local drags with a 1800 hp 400 small block, it was wiiicked.

A 307 is often overlooked motor. I have one but I made the following mods to it; Edelbrock Perfromer EPS intake and Edelbrock 600 Cfm carb, Comp Cams dual energy 265 cam , Flowtech afterburner headers makes a very responsive combo.Everything is matched up to run the 1500-5500 rpm range.
