I could have sworn my 243 heads has D shaped exhaust ports....regardless its of no concern what shape the port is for a round tube header. Now if you had a round exhaust port and a D header tube then that would be a problem.

Just installed Speed Engineering 1 7/8" long tube headers. At Less than $300 for a set of stainless headers they fit great. I'm using the Holley Hooker mounts system on a LS3/525 crate engine. The tubes before the collector sit about level with the oil pan. The exhaust pipes after the collector are a inch or so from the floor. I did have to put a small dent in the floor where the pass side 02 senor was mounted.
I would love to have a set of Detroit speed or stainless works headers but just could not afford them.

Can you send me a couple pics of how your headers fit. I bought a set of pacesetters and now I'm not liking how they fit.

What year car did you put those speed engineering headers on?

Question for those who have 2nd Gen FBody. (70-73) Camaro with DSE Subframe and DO NOT wish to pay the High $$$ for DSE Headers, What Brand 1 7/8 Header did you install and what challanges did you have? The rack and pinion steering input location is NOT a problem as I have worked this issue out with DD SS shafts and U Joints. Thanks to All as I need Header Help!

You sound like I did years ago…why spend thousands, now like $10k for a DSE frame and cheap out on the headers??

I spent more time trying to find a cheaper set of headers than it was worth and bought the DSE headers anyways. The time wasted and the guess of fitment isn’t worth it!

Go on EBay, look for a 10% summit coupon and just buy them!

I have used the Speed Engineering headers on a couple of LS swap projects. They fit well.
My only complaint is the tubes on the left side come out of the header flange make pretty tight turn when they wouldn't have to. Per a local dirt track header builder the more straight you have coming out of the header flange will help HP.
Maybe not for you but I've built headers for a couple of my LS swaps. A 99 BMW and a 67 Nova. I buy the LS header flanges and a SBC do it your self header kits from Summit. I cut and tack the tubes as needed. Then either weld them up your self or take them to a local pro welder to weld them "pretty". I think I had about $400 in materials and about $100 for the pro welder. Much easier to do if the front sheet metal is off.

I Think people forget it’s 2024, we pay burger flippers $20hr and we think expert time and workmanship should be cheaper. A pair of DSE headers has hours of TIG work and stainless to boot. I bet labor and materials in a pair of DSE headers is a grand or more
