Bad governor? Possibly a stripped gear on it.

Most of the time when you have a rear end failure it takes out the sprag in the transmission too.

I recently had same issue. I took the governor apart and it was stuck. I cleaned it, thought I had found the issue, but not to be. I pulled the transmission, took it to a friend that owns a trans business. He said it looked like a grenade went off inside. Hopefully, you'll have better luck than I did.
