It´s really quite a chore with the small cabin, with no working vaccuum (busted an old vaccuum thrice, fixed it twice, then bought a new vaccuum which lasted for 4 days) and my compessor is a 2hp/24ltr one which keeps the necessary pressure for about 8 seconds.... ARGH
But hey, this is "the hobby part" of it all, right :whine:

Today also got the bushings pressed out from the front suspension.
Ordered some POR. Hopefully get them painted next week.
Nice job. Those spindles look good. I am taking mine apart to blast as we speak lol

Yeah, I see we have a race on  You´ll win, no worries.

Oh, forgot.
Fixed the time table for this project to roll (ie. get all ready to get all the papers and stuff for legal driving, taxed etc...) and it is May (hopefully 1.st) 2009, so 4 months time to do all "necessary" stuff... which includes at this point all but the exterior (paint and sheet metal needed) which I will leave for the future.

No time for slacking, eh

I got abut the same time frame in mind. I would like to be driving her in spring 09 :) I won't do final paint till march/april depending on when the weather gets better so I can paint and vent the garage. Hopefully have everything else pretty much done, just finish paint and assembly :)

Neck no............no time for slackin LOL

Slow progress...

Got the subframe blasted today.
Took 2+ hours time and 3½ 50lb bags of sand.
And (of course) it started winter today, temperature´s been steadily around 30-39°F all December but today it was down to 8°F. Got a bit cold watching my friend do the blasting...

Also blasted some more small stuff in my cabinet, including the idler arm and valve covers.

Does anyone know, the ball joints at the end of the centerlink, are they replaceable? And if they are, what´s the number?
Cleaned the centerlink out but saw no numbers. And of course when I removed all the stuff I hammered out the pieces so the ball joints are kind of shot...
Do I have to get the whole centerlink :(

Good work, the frame looks nice.

And sorry to say, yes you need a new center link. The ends are not replacable.

I got offered a 402+350 combo and am seriously thinking it...
What mods do I need to do to get the bbc installed? What were the differences in 1970 when you could get the option-396?
I know motor mounts are different and in a different place as sbc, how about the trans crossmember, will it need modifications?
Front springs are different and I´m sure rear leafs are also a different spring rate.
Brakes are the same?
Driveshaft is the same?
What else?

Do a search for the BBC swap specifics, but off hand you'll need the motor, matching accessory brackets, can use the 73 ps pump with the bbc ps bracket, new plug wires, bbc headers, and some other sending unit relocations to mate it up. You can get by with most of the sbc parts on the car like springs/brakes/etc...and upgrade later, or just get stiffer front springs now that its all apart.
