Anyone converted their second gen to RACK AND PINION ?? IS THERE A BONE WARD SETUP THAT CAN BE ALTERED TO FIT ?
With enough knowledge and willingness anything is possible. Will it be an improvement over a quality box, with no impact on turning radius and bumps there? Probably not. The aftermarket kits have issues with that too.

You can probably search this forum for a bunch of threads on this.

Honestly, I'm not seeing how it'd be worth it to spend $2k on that.

For that money, I'd get a good quality box plus the Borgeson U-joint steering shaft kit, and ensure all of your steering linkages are in tip-top shape, then a set of a tubular upper control arms to get more modern alignment specs. Maybe a few hundred more for some G-braces too.

Not sure how stock the rest of your setup is at the moment, but my suspicion is that the above setup would be a better performer than rack and pinion on otherwise stock front end.

not looking for NON Power Steering, just "Precision". Car is a bone stock '73 Z28 that I've owned 49 years. Are the tubular uppers actually worth the $$ ?

In my opinion, unless you are using really low-profile tires, new arms are not worth the money. If you have stock sidewall height, or close to it, don't jump on the "more caster is always better" bandwagen. Freshen up the front end with new ball joints, bushings and linkage like ULTM8Z said. I recommend low-friction joints from AC DELCO or RAYBESTOS, professional grade. (They are the same. Get whichever is less expensive.) Send the steering gear off for a quality rebuild. I've heard good things about REDHEAD Steering up here in my neck of the woods. (Auburn, WA) You may be delighted by a simple rebuild. Good luck!

I'll respectfully disagree based on experience. I think even with 15s more caster makes for a better driving highway car.

I think for a nice driver you can do an improved UCA, rebuild the stock lowers with a delrin based bushing, get good shocks, quality springs and a nice 12.7:1 box. Done.

That said, if nothing else with stock arms go a taller upper ball joint to improve the camber curve. Even ridetech does that in their street grip set.

where can a 12-1 box be had ? What Is what came in the car Factory ? All the balljoints and bushings haven't got 5k miles on them. 235 x15 tires on front, 245 x 15 rear. 1 1/4 front sway bar, 5/8" rear? All urethane bushings and end links. Really the only "non stock", is 700R and rear discs.
car has spent 90% of the last 15 years under quilts in my garage !
