Looking for thoughts on reducing my axle end play for disc brakes. I realize the best way is to replace and shim my clutch pack, but I don’t want to put the money into this diff and they are hard to find for the stock LSD. It’s a stock 8.5” 10 Bolt with the stock limited slip differential. I might look at upgrading down the road.

I am thinking about either shimming behind the C-Clip or making my own thicker c-clip. Right now I have .031” end play on the drivers side. I would like to get it down to between .005” to .010”. I have shims on order and think that might be the best way.

That's what I'd try, that's the trouble with this style of diff, great with drum brakes but disks are a whole 'nother topic, I guess this is why the 9 inch is so popular, you could mod what you have but I think you'll find out that it's not cost effective, to bad really because the 8.5" is a good strong diff but with sloppy axles disk brakes back there takes on a whole new meaning.

Yes. I wish I had seen this thread earlier. I went to that shop and bought some of the thicker c-clips. The owner is super nice. He offered to let me take a bunch home and try them until I found the right ones and just bring back the ones I didn't need and pay after the fact.

I did a bit more adjusting and got both sides to 0.007” end play with my custom made C-Clips. I think that’s the better way to go rather than trying the shims. Thanks for the suggestions.
