blow by question

I'm getting some blow by on my 383 . I noticed it this morning and I'm going to do a compression check in a little while after it cools off. Qusestions - 1) is there anyway of determining if it's blowing thru the rings vs the head gasket without total disassembly; 2) I've only got about 80 miles on this motor, shouldn't the rings have "set" by now? Except for an oil discharge around the filler cap, it's running fine.

Are you running a PCV valve?

No - but now that I think about it, I probably should. Compression looked good all around 165 to 180 Lbs.

Was your block torque plate hone and honed with a quality hone?????????

Engine needs a some kind of crankcase evacuation system, either PCV or those vent caps that go to ventruies on the hedder collectors.
